A Hofstrian Christianity

What does Protestant Christianity look like on the Hofstra campus? From what I’ve seen, it doesn’t look good.

After a long, costly, and arduous process, it’s official! I’m a rising freshman at Hofstra University. There were a lot of things that I liked about the school, but the godlessness that is prevalent in campuses around the country is very evident here. They adhere to the modern sexual ethic by not only providing gender-neutral bathrooms, they allow transgenders to sleep in the dorms that pertain to their “identity”. I thought to myself, “This place is perfect for my work”. However, I may have my work cut out for me because I didn’t take a look at the options that they gave for Christans to have services. I take a look at the Interfaith Center’s section of the Hofstra website and I see the entry for the Protestant chaplain. When I saw who the chaplain was, I laughed. I expected it to be a perversion of who a pastor/reverend is supposed to be but, upon further research, I realized that it is much worse than I thought. “Reverend” Joyce Brandon Duggar is the leader of First Congregational Church of Rockaway Beach, an “open and affirming” church that is a part of the United Churches of Christ denomination. To my knowledge, there has been no challenge to this “minister” whatsoever. This means that we have young people that will be leading the church being led by someone who has a clear disregard for the Bible and its true meaning. This should be clear as day: homosexuality, transgenderism, and all other sexual perversions are sins and that should be clear by the fact that there are a plethora of consequences that come with these behaviors. The LGBTQ religion has a clear effect on the society around it and it should be squashed out. However, homosexuals and transgenders need to understand that there is freedom in Christ and that they need to believe in Him and repent of their sins. Ms. Joyce clearly denies these facts and is leading students and her congregation straight into the lake of fire. As the Bible says, “Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing? The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed, saying, Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us” (Psalms 2:1–3, KJV). It is a sad day when a church is guilty of trying to break away from Christ.

There clearly needs to be a counteroffensive against her false gospel. As I write this, I am taking my placement exams and preparing for my orientation. I am also preparing literature and looking over the logistics of starting a new, substitute church for the students of Hofstra that desire a true Christianity and not a Hofstrian false gospel. It will be called Covenant Warrior Fellowship. This new church will be a part of the Army of God, the Christian political organization that I founded last year. The AOG website will be updated and prepared to accept the students that want to stand against the false gospel of Hofstra. I pray that the people within Ms. Brandon’s congregations here at Hofstra and First Congregational learn to be true to the Word of God and leave. I also pray that Ms. Brandon will repent of sharing this false gospel and learn the real gospel. There needs to be a restoration of the Christian community here at Hofstra, and I hope that this restoration will lead to a nationwide movement of young Christians taking back their college campuses for Christ.
